Informative report about India’s ‘beggar mafia’ — criminals that cripple children and use them as begging props to earn more from unsuspecting passers-by - as shown in the popular movie Slumdog Millionaire. This article seems generally well reported, citing a variety of credible sources from a weeklong investigation. Sadly, it focuses mostly on problems than possible solutions -- and the author tends to sensationalize this story with opinionated language. A worthwhile read nonetheless.
