That Bushies are so soon confined to the trash bin of history is dramatic, and the author fully details how this came to be. But erasing Bushie disasters won’t be anywhere at all easy, mainly because they are so numerous and so hugely immense. Decades will pass before we cure ourselves of our massive neocon hangover. Or worse, there may not be enough “aspirin” to eradicate it completely.
Isn’t it wonderful to finally come out of the Cheney-Bush black shadows of fear, distortions, lies, and repression into the sunlight of freedom, able to speak without looking over one’s shoulder, or having one’s character attacked? Actually listening to intelligent conversation and having neocon nonsense and trickle-down dumbness confined to a few Neandertal necon senators stuck in the 18th century?
An expert in politics and international affairs, senior editor Hirsh writes with authoritative and succinct focus about the quick erasure of Bush's person and policies. He includes specific examples to make compelling points. His energetic writing style makes the piece enjoyable to read.
A mediocre and rather short article presenting a narrow summation of President Obama's first couple of days. If you've been out of touch since Monday, its worth reading. The appointments of the divergent Mr. Mitchell and Hollbrooke by the President and Mrs. Clinton seems blatantly incompatable and inconsistant but not addressed by the writer.
Visable between the lines is Obama's inexperienced naivte, soon to be demolished by the realities of dealing with the Taliban and Hamas. Mrs. Clinton should know better from previous experience in her husbands time. Mr. Mitchell's appeasement with terrorists in the past has been a disaster, while Mr. Holbrooke has been anything but a negotiator for peace as we all recall from the Timor massacre.
Mr. Hirsh sets the stage for a different strategy in the up-coming years. Holbrook, Mitchell and maybe Ross are going to change things. People have been trying for over 50 years with no success. Let's hope Obama & co. can at least get them talking.
If Hamas, doesn't change it's view of Israel's annihilation, or the power doesn't change you might as well not even book the flight.
