Whitman and Brown pound each other in second debate

In a dramatic, fiery exchange, candidate for governor Meg Whitman today accused opponent Jerry Brown of being behind the scandal over her former illegal immigrant housekeeper -- an allegation that prompted Brown to say that if Whitman won't take responsibility for her actions then she isn't fit to be governor. This is good journalism, but could be better. I am better informed of the fireworks, but left with many questions.

It seems the billionaire is blustering at maximum volume to obscure the fact she threw her housekeeper under the bus, and then made up an accusation to accuse her of a crime in the process. Lots here on lack of character in the billionaire, not much on the full spectrum of problems in California and the government in this economy.

While this article is well written and clearly represents the drama that is unfolding between Whitman and Brown, it is possible that it could have been written with a focus on the impact that the allegations against Whitman has had on the Hispanic community. There was mention to the negative political impact that this scandal has had on Whitman's campaign within the Latino community, but the intense impact that this issue is having on that community in regards to deportation and the cultural alienation that they must endure..again, was not given voice to.

One of the more balanced forays into this subject.

It shines a light on just how little difference it will make whether the Democrats or Republicans are elected. One side wants a legal underclass and one wants an illegal underclass.

Thought this was a good recap of the debate. Most of the quotes were clearly taken from the debate or press conference, but experts did add some good context.

The story only speaks about the dialogue regarding Whitman's dismissal of a alleged worker that does not legally reside in the United States. The story revolves around that one aspect of the debate.

Was the whole debate about an undocumented worker/illegal alien? Where is the rest of the story? So they pounded each other about an issue that they don't really have any control over in any case in an indirect manner. Californians again have to decide between a Republican that seemingly has no values or a Democrat that has proved himself capable of ruining the state. Fantastic ...
