this seems a fair and appropriate representation of what has happened so far. it also demonstrates the difference between actually being president and running for president, i.e. that the less experience, the easier it is to believe how much the role can make happen. it's also true that the more one learns, the easier it is to rethink the first impulse. being president must be a constantly climbing learning curve.
readers need to read the 'more' for each item listed to interpret how compromise, broken, etc., are assessed.
