This comprehensive roundup of President Obama's campaign promises is an excellent resource for citizens of all political stripes. This guide looks at the facts alone, free of partisanship, on some 500 issues ranging from modernizing the air traffic system to farm subsidies to getting the Obama children a dog. Highly recommended -- the Obameter is a feature I'll be checking frequently.

Excellent fact-checking, which provides a helpful overview of over 500 campaign promises made by Barack Obama last year. PolitiFact has tracked and researched all these promises, some more thoroughly than others, but always with good sourcing and context from a neutral perspective.

A breath of fresh air in the midst of so much partisan or superficial coverage of Obama's progress so far. The good news is there appears to be more ... More »

this seems a fair and appropriate representation of what has happened so far. it also demonstrates the difference between actually being president and running for president, i.e. that the less experience, the easier it is to believe how much the role can make happen. it's also true that the more one learns, the easier it is to rethink the first impulse. being president must be a constantly climbing learning curve.

readers need to read the 'more' for each item listed to interpret how compromise, broken, etc., are assessed.

There is some subjectivity in the selection of which promises are the top promises, and the determination of whether the promises were kept, compromised, broken, and the progress bars for in the works. The collection of promises and monitoring them is an impressive task, if done objectively.

So many promises, and still under 100 days. Too much credit for escalating wars. Too little discredit for civil rights regarding habeas corpus, ... More »

This article provides an interesting way to keep track of the status of promises made by Obama. It will be more interesting as time goes by, if PolitiFact continues to follow up on this story.

Interesting concept; keeping track of campaign promises. What's missing are allowances for contemporary events and circumstances which will exert considerable influences on promises. Not to mention that we have yet to learn all the "little" surprises Bushies have undoubtedly left for us--including a broken government. How shall this watchdog group handle the plethora of coming events?

Where was this "hold-his-feet-to-the-fire" outfit when Bush-Cheney made a right turn into radical conservatism immediately after the 2000 election? ... More »

This is exactly the type of journalism we should be promoting at NewsTrust. An in-depth, but clearly "just-the-facts" reporting on politicos.

There are so many problems with this attempt that I can not write about all. The idea that if Obama change his mind or fines about that original idea must wait then list would mark (Promise Broken). This is a bad idea.

With friends like this Obama has a problem.
