I like the tendency of blogs to update in response to feedback and new information. This makes a compelling case, and it brings in a number of sources with quotes and extensive links.

It's not like this is an entirely unusual war against civilians. Almost all wars are ended not when one military is entirely defeated, but when the harm to civilians exceeds some threshold. They just don't usually begin that way.
