Health care reform: A summary of recent distortions

The debate over health care reform has been defined by exaggerations and falsehoods. Republicans have falsely labeled the Democratic plan "government-run health care" and warned of death panels for the elderly and taxpayer subsidies for illegal immigrants. Democrats, meanwhile, have exaggerated the savings of their plan and made false claims about their favorite villains, the insurance companies. Full Story »

An unbiased assessment of statements made regarding health care and potential legislation. There is at least spin on both sides and in some cases there are outright lies. Accuracy matters.

There seems to be a mixed bag here. Some evaluations seem clear, and others seem a bit shallow. The positive impact is that politicians and readers may be more cautious in issuing statements and believing them on their face.

By sheer number (and my count) of Truth-O-Meter ratings in this article it seems to be biased as there are more falst or barely true statements attributed to democrats then repubs

This story is concise, balanced, factual, and well-sourced. It should have broken out the cost issues in a more granular manner, but this article would vastly improve the knowledge of most Americans.
