Olbermann Bashed Bush Administration for Criticizing NBC in 2008

Keith Olbermann's recent cheerleading for the Obama adminstration's attacks on Fox News is in stark contrast to how the "Countdown" host felt about the Bush White House criticizing NBC last year for questionable editing done in a "Today" show report. Full Story »

Inherently unfair. The Bush and McCain complaints were because NBC was refusing to be their propaganda pony and tell lies. The Obama complaints is because FOX is being the opposition propaganda pony and is telling lies. Journalism is about truth, not abject political abeyance.

He's certainly right about Olberman, but he misses the central question: Is our news media unbiased? Is it useful if it is not? Should it be able to call itself "news" if it is not?

As usual, the media has made this into something akin to a grudge match in professional wrestling. And they've missed the main event. News channels ... More »

This piece makes the case the Kieth Olbermann's comments have been hypocritical concerning "partisan" attacks on the news media. This appears to be a legitimate complaint concerning Olbermann but has little to do with the larger question of Obama et al vs Fox News. It simply points out that one partisan journalist is as unreliable as the next.

Not a helpful story. Like the Media Matters piece, Sheppard is more concerned with exposing a minor contradiction than contributing to a discussion about how presidential administrations should interact with the media.

Interesting analysis of how liberal cable news host Keith Olbermann condemned to the Bush administration's criticism of NBC News - as compared to his endorsement of the Obama Administration's criticism of Fox News. The author has a point, and documents it very well. However, that point seems a bit moot to me, as I find both MSNBC and Fox News to be guilty of the same partisan style of reporting. Instead of this childish game of tit-for-tat, I would have been more impressed if the ... More »

Doesn't give the context of the NBC stories. Have they proven to be accurate. Enough time has passed for that to be known

Even taking quotes so much out of context, and indicating missing parts by the use of elipsis, the quotes pretty much speak for themselves, but the conclusions drawn make me wonder if Mr. Sheppard actually read his materials. Also, rather hard to follow his logic .. maybe there isn't much.

I'm glad that the Administration has finally fought back a bit against Fox. I'm also glad that they carefully state that it's their opinion. Since ... More »
