Adding more U.S. troops to the Afghanistan mess is a bad idea

We should not underestimate the strength of nationalism in Afghanistan and Pakistan, particularly among the 40 million Pashtuns who live on both sides of the border there. It's difficult to see why adding 40,000 more U.S. troops to the area will stabilize the situation. Full Story »

Good advice for Obama, as to merits of not pouring more US troops into Afghanistan.

Adding gasoline to the fire is a good analogy used by Kristof. The Afghan president says putting in more US troops will not imrprove security. Iran. Russia, India and China should be taking seats at the table of discussion, of how best to achieve minimal stability in Afghanistan.
