Mumbai: The Kashmir Connection

After 181 people were killed in the Mumbai terrorist attacks, fingers immediately pointed at Pakistan. But, Pakistan says they are victims of terrorism too. While the terrorists may have arrived from Karachi, part of the motivation to attack India stems from long-simmering tensions in Kashmir.

Another winner from Global Pulse whose only downfall is that it's a little late in the game in some ways. Very well sourced, intelligent, disinterested analysis. I wonder, though, why they didn't run something similar earlier, as they have been more timely on other topics in the past.

This report does a good job of helping viewers understand the under-reported link of recent Mumbai violence to the yet unresolved clash between nuclear powers Pakistan and India over the disputed region of Kashmir. This is a good example of the non-profit news model that seeks to analyze reports, absorb key messages and contrast them for fairness and balance--all with the intent of bringing Americans a more global, educational view of the news.
