Posted by John Hamer - via Columbia Journalism ReviewIt gets at a problem caused by lack of regulations for what really are health care institutions. And though it does not go into it, people probably go into these homes because they are less expensive than assisted living or nursing homes, and don't require the spend down for Medicaid eligibility. As more of us age, this kind of situation is going to come up more and more.

They can be more expensive, but they market the story that your loved ones will get more personal care, like living at home. Sometimes true, sometimes false with good dissembling.
