information which, if it were more general knowledge, might calm the fears of those who worry about the auto companies "bailout", and counters those who may want see them out of business. i wish the writer had addressed the other complications of a rescue package he mentions.

An excellent example of what journalists can do when they actually do their job. Instead of simply repeating the talking points we've all been hearing about the auto industry, Cohn did some digging, some figuring, and came up with a whole new take on the situation that makes the whole issue more complex, but makes a lot more sense.

Basic, straight-forward journalism using fairly easily obtained research. Which begs the question: if one journalist can get the real story, why can’t all the media report the facts? Doing it right isn’t exactly rocket science.
