This week, Kilcullen agreed to do an e-mail Q. & A. on Afghanistan and Pakistan, where he’s spent a lot of time, and where the most pressing foreign crisis awaits the new Administration. Kilcullen provides interesting personal perspectives on Afghanistan. He seems to think winning or loosing the war is about a 50-50 proposition, but he sounds overly optimistic. At least he is suggesting something more than just a military strategy.

The Brits and the Russians encountered a wee bit of trouble occupying Afghanistan, and it looks like we are repeating history.
