The article discusses the two basic interpretations conservatives have about the Bush years, as well as the characteristics Bush and Palin share. One side sees those years as a vindication of neocon philosophy; the other sees Bush as a failure. The writing needed to be more incisive, more to the point.

The neocon faithful–still in control of right wing media–consider Palin their best hope for their future despite the article’s contention that the two characteristics Bush and Palin share most are incompetence and unintelligence. Should right wing Republicans continue to regard Palin as a female Bush who will lead them out of the darkness, they will have committed political suicide.
