Langley works hard to ignore the weaknesses of the Republican candidates and the weaknesses in the Republican platform and philosophy. It is as though she is trying to blame the economy and fate for the downfall of her heroes. The subtle net effect is an attempt to diminish the the mandate expressed by the people for Obama as a president, and the progressive policies upon which he ran. It is a journalistic work of political defense for the core constituency of rich white right readers of the WSJ.
