This is a very well written and deep analysis of how things took a turn for the worse for McCain as the economic crisis hit us. The Journal's recap is comprehensive, stringing events together in a logical progression and citing some key sources on the way. Some of the writing and reporting in this story suggests to me that this had been in the works for a little while. An important read from a financial newspaper of record.
