Simply put, this is a must-read. FP delivers a breakdown of the most important issues facing the country in coming years that were regretfully left off the table in the presidential race. It's factual, concise and presented in a comprehensive format. An appropriate story for election day eve, but it could have come earlier.

Reporters cover "what was said" fairly well. They don't usually do a great job at "what was not said." This piece fills that hole. The items selected -- and there are probably more that could have been brought up -- are legitimate questions that were never explored publicly during the campaign. Interesting report on some issues left out by the candidates during the final months of the election, including: China's rise, drug violence in Mexico, instability in Somalia, the global food crisis and illegal immigration. The authors offer reasonable evidence and commentary about why these issues matter and what the candidates said on these topics. The author interjects his own opinion throughout, which borders on making this an opinion piece.

The largest foreign policy issue that essentially was not discussed during the campaign is the Israel/Palestine problem. A second major issue is the imperial presence of the US in the Middle East, which also was not discussed.

Crucial foreign policy issues could not be discussed during the campaign, for obvious reasons.

The article is a bit to the stupid side as it is fairly obvious why the issues he discusses are not important in the campaign - mainly because the candidates don't care or have similar positions.

Comprehensive immigration reform is code word for amnesty which won't be popular and probably can't pass congress. Corn to ethanol is one of the ... More »
