Chaos Looms Over Pennsylvania Vote

Philadelphia is shaping up to be a key city in a key battleground state in this election, but machine problems and long lines may plague the polling stations and voter disenfranchisement will be a serious risk. Unfortunately for voters, the people charged with running a smooth election in Philly seem surprisingly unconcerned. Philly's veritable election czar, Marge Tartaglione (D), in particular, shocked ANP with her comments at a recent hearing. See more ... Full Story »

Clearly favorable to the voting rights group, but an effective piece nevertheless. ANP's confrontation of the election commissioner is an example of traditional public interest journalism. Her quotes were revealing of the flippancy of public officials of her ilk, and important to capture, this being the eve of a pivotal election. Ultimately I'm not bothered that this piece was covered with an editorial bias -- its impact would been lesser had it practiced the equivalence of ... More »

This is the latest in a series of video reports from ANP about the effectiveness of the electoral process in Philadelphia. The report focuses on concerns that lines are too long, and that a number of voting machines were broken in the last election. On the whole, I am not very impressed with this report, which tends to dramatize the issue by showing long excerpts from the chairwoman of the City commission. Too few sources are cited, and the reporter seems to be interjecting her own ... More »

One of many horrifying stories about elections. It's shocking elections officials demonstrate so little concern about it. Congratulations to the ANP for exposing them.

These "public servants" should lose their jobs!

The intransigent bellicosity of the election commissioners short-circuits the story from voter disenfranchisement to what seems to be a proximate cause. It is not clear if they have personality disorders, or if they are racist. Some background on that might flesh out the story. This has to be seen to be believed.

Come on, good people of Philadelphia, throw these bums out of office, and maybe into jail!

Sounds like a sensational accounting.

Love that woman with the great phily accent. Really quite amusing. Isn't it better if people who don't care enough to wait in line don't vote? I ... More »

Voter disenfranchisement in the Cradle of Liberty is a very real and scary possibility that hasn't been adequately covered in the MSM. Kudos to Danielle Ivory for documenting this topic.
