Keep The Faith

It is with a heavy heart that I tell you today that the board of elections in Haiti has disqualified me from my run for the presidency of the country. Though I disagree with the ruling, I respectfully accept the committee's final decision, and I urge my supporters to do the same. Full Story »

This is not a very dignified statement. It's all about him, and only peripherally about Haiti. Most importantly, it doesn't really engage with the politics here, or explain exactly why and how he was disqualified. He says that the board found that he wasn't a "resident of Haiti." Is that the rule? If so, wasn't that totally obvious from the get-go? In that case, why did he even try to run?

It gives me rather the same feeling I had about his whole candidacy. I think this was an ego trip, and fortunately, it was a short one.
