Since Eagleberger's endorsement has been touted by the McCain campaign (as this article states), it is very interesting that Eagleberger seems less then thrilled with Palin (and of course the McCain campaign does not mention that).

Eagleburger is not a name that dominates history, but his diplomatic way of saying Palin is a disaster makes interesting reading. The story leaves open the question of the judgment of Eagleburger in endorsing McCain, given his low opinion of his better half.

I read both of these writers a fair amount, and this is not their best work. They're good enough journalists to include the actual transcript of the interview. Unfortunately, it undercuts both the headline and the lede when given in context.
