Don't Let the Polls Affect Your Vote

Polls can reveal underlying or emerging trends and help campaigns decide where to focus. The danger is that commentators use them to declare a race over before the votes are in. This can demoralize the underdog's supporters, depressing turnout. I know that from experience. Full Story »

Distorted and written with a purpose. First, some nits. Gore did win the vote in Florida. SOME polls have the statistical precision they claim, not none. Rove's election results include any vote fraud induced manipulations that occurred from the voting machines and vote tabulation software. And a big point: Rove is a republican and wants to push this story because his candidate is behind and he does not want republican voters to not vote. His motive for the story is suspect. ... More »

Like him or not, Rove knows politics and campaigning. Here he provides a lot of context--historical and otherwise. His discussion of why poll results vary so widely was interesting and informative.
