Lack of Preparation, Uniformity Could Cause Long Lines on Election Day

Voters in the largest counties in 10 key swing states may experience problems on Election Day because of insufficient preparation and inadequate poll booth and machine allocation plans, according to a report released today by FairVote, a nonpartisan advocacy group.

I am rating the report as well as the press release. This provides good information. The questions are biased toward finding poor election practices, but reasons are given, taken from those surveyed.

The report gives results of a fairly extensive survey of voting preparation across 10 states. The disorganization is a bit alarming when considering the importance of the election.

This is based on the whole report - which to begin with - should be read in context with the article on voter suppression, above. Overall reaction: it's not as though either is a new problem which no one saw coming! The DNC has been doing bottom up grassroots organizing. Why in heaven's name wasn't some effort put into monitoring both of these types of problem much earlier? Where are groups like Move On - maybe this isn't dramatic enough for them?
