Spread the Tax Hooey!

Republicans are misrepresenting Obama's tax proposals right down to the bitter end. New radio ads from the McCain campaign and a TV spot from the pro-Republican group Let Freedom Ring are targeting voters nationwide with some of the same tax deceptions we've been hearing all fall, rolled in a bundle and flung through the airwaves. One of the radio ads features Hank Williams Jr., the other Florida Gov. Charlie Crist. But new packaging doesn't make the ... Full Story »

Another excellent report from FactCheck, debunking GOP political ads about Obama's tax plan. As always, the report provides ample factual evidence from credible sources to point out serious errors in these ads. See attached quotes.

We feel, obviously, that wealthy people can afford more. …. And I think middle-income Americans, working Americans … all of the taxes that working ... More »

Though FactCheck has good investigations and bad ones, this episode appears to get most of the facts correct and emphasizes those lies that have been previously debunked yet the candidate still uses them.

Factcheck continues to expose some McCain ads for the pure crap that they are. I find it interesting that on one hand McCain talks about reaching out to the "left" and changing the way Washington does business, but then he and his surrogates use the term "liberal" as if it is a curse. As a liberal/progressive I have a problem with that, and would not be too inclined to "reach back" to someone who had uttered such a remark--therefore (I know) perpetuating the partisan divide.

The fact checkers have a hard time keeping up with the misinformation and disinformation spread by the McCain campaign and their surrogates, but this article tries. The facts closely correspond to the information provided by non-partisan sources such as the Center for Tax Policy. The McCain campaign will no doubt continue to scare people as much as they can. They are at a serious disadvantage, however, because the Obama campaign has more money with which to correct the record.

Being from Nevada a battleground state i am constantly exposed to negative ads from both parties. i like that this ad clears up all the lie from the McCain campaign about Obama and it also has other articles exposing lies from the Obama campaign so its clear that it isnt a biased website. with the campaign being as nasty as it is we definately need some non biased people to check the facts for us like this wesite!
