Lots of new information here for me. This article is even handed, carefully balanced, pitting the realities of Barack Obama and John McCain's health care plans against their rhetoric on the campaign trail. Several qualified, independent experts are cited. Neither campaign is offered opportunity to defend its plan in this story -- which I'm thankful for, as it would have distracted from McClatchy's third-party analysis.

This is an unbiased summary of both McCain and Obama's health care proposals. It is useful to see them side by side; however, the article sticks mostly to the principles of each rather than delving into details. Examination of details along with tracking some hypothetical cases through each would contribute to a better understanding.

This is a simple and straightforward description of the candidate's plans and how they differ. It's also a convincing argument that current health insurance would change dramatically if either plan was put into effect.

This is a very well-detailed article, complete with the candidates' positions and questions and answers, as well as useful web links and space for reader online comments.

While a step in the right direction, Mr. Obama's plan is still mild compared to the single-payer plans like many of our closest allies.
