U.S. government agencies made at least $5 billion in mistakes in their recent reports of contracts awarded to small businesses, with many claiming credit for awards to companies that long ago outgrew the designation or never qualified in the first place, a Washington Post analysis shows. This report seems to suggest systematic fraud in the Department of Defense, although that is not stated openly. Cheating by the big defense contractors would be nothing new.

This is an excellent example if quality journalism because it does a spectacular job of telling the story, instead of simply throwing some quotes together.

This story shows detail and explains how and what mistakes were made in counting big businesses as small businesses. It showed how and why there could have been confusion. It was a little long though and could have been condensed.
