Block the Vote

Will the GOP's campaign to deter new voters and discard Democratic ballots determine the next president?

On February 5th, the day of the Super Tuesday caucus, a school-bus driver named Paul Maez arrived at his local polling station to cast his ballot. To his surprise, Maez found that his name had vanished from the list of registered voters, thanks to a statewide effort to deter fraudulent voting. For Maez, the shock was especially acute: He is the supervisor of elections in Las Vegas. Full Story »

A brilliant article about voter disenfrachisement, a must-read article for Americans and Canadian citizens who want to strengthen democracy for all citizens.

This is clearly a partisan article that makes no pretense of balance. Nevertheless, it points to and discusses a very real and well documented problem -- that of large numbers of qualified US citizens being deprived of their right to vote. One can take issue with many unsupported assertions as to who is responsible and their motives but multiple independent studies, some referenced in the article, have concluded that acutal voter fraud is negligible while the deprivation of the ... I like the effort that Palast puts into his stories, but I deplore his willingness to present biased data. This story falls seriously short on substantiating many of it's claims. The list of challenges to voting is good; but the numbers are suspect. For example, the claim of 1.6 million uncounted votes seems to combine uncounted provisional and absentee ballots, but it is not explained that there are legitimate reasons for rejecting these.

Excellent and timely investigative journalism that is a must read for voters. The more coverage this story receives the less likely the vote will be stolen. The links at the end of the story are worth looking at and include a link to download a copy of the 'Steal Back your Vote' comic book and a great web site on how to expose, spot, and report election theft.

A must-read piece for all voters. All of us must check our registration and ability to vote NOW. On election day, it will be too late and hundreds of thousands of voters could find themselves disenfranchised by the biggest vote fraud in history.

The subject , under reported and contentious, is a GOP anthem....voter fraud. The past two pres elections have been suspect.... with little media insistence of meaningful rectification. Lots of facts....some conjecture ...well worth the time.

Robert Kennedy and Greg Palast have created a well substantiated investigative report showing systematic Republican efforts to use the Help Americans Vote Act , ironically, to keep legitimate voters from being allowed to vote. Our Attorney General and an army of his legal eagles should be all over this attempt to undermine our very democracy. This is must reading for all democracy-loving citizens.

This opinion piece has minimal journalistic merit. We have seen several pieces from these Democratic Party activitists and they all are one-sided and inaccurate. Where is the information on the Milwaukee election day registrations in 2004 that the local experts say stole the election in Wisconsin from Bush? Where is information on the many convictions of voter fraud by Democrats in several states. Poorly sourced and edited.

This is sensationalist journalism that focuses on the symptoms instead of the cause.

The authors' focus on stolen votes ignores the real and more crucial problem of stolen elections. In 2000 and 2004, the President was sworn in ... More »
