A highly informative editorial comparing Barack Obama and John McCain's views on and proposals for dealing with immigration and abortion. The Times' arguments here are well supported, straightforward and strong.

Editors at the LA Times thoughtfully and factually discuss Obama's and McCain's positions on immigration and abortion. The discussion on McCain's abandonment of his previous position on immigration to become a follower of the GOP was well done.

This editorial has minimal journalistic merit. It follows the Democratic Party line, as this paper normally does, but goes further in its promotion of the most extreme position on the abortion issue, a position that most women oppose. Obama is known to have one of the most anti-life records of any major-party politician and the editors should have noted this if they intended to provide a genuine assessment of the two candidates.
