The Closing of the American Border

Most of the arguments we hear against illegal immigration are economic arguments. What happened after 9/11 was suddenly you had this new set of security fears. That allowed the government to do things that are far more Draconian than would have been accepted under a circumstance where you didn't have that security fear. Full Story »

Fascinating interview with Council on Foreign Relations fellow Edward Alden about the connection between counter-terrorism and immigration policy. This was an informative, fairly even-handed interview with Edward Alden "a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations and the author of "The Closing of the American Border: Terrorism, Immigration and Security Since 9/11." A great read.

Interesting, relevant interview which goes into the far-reaching implications of the "war on terror" since 9/11, especially on immigration to the U.S. Both the reporter and interview subject clearly know this topic. The interviewer questions were not leading. The answers were in depth and through. There were no third party links to qualify statistics.
