Falling from shoo-in status to widely rejected legislation within the space of four months, a resolution that would have opened the door for a naval blockade on Iran was officially shelved at the end of September, after several of its cosponsors withdrew their support.

This story is less effective than it could have been because it buries the lead. The unlikely grassroots alliance that convinced five cosponsors to reverse course on the HR 362, in the face of the influential AIPAC lobby, is the heart of this story and should have been introduced higher. The reporting isn't bad, although more independent perspectives would have helped balance it.
