Thousands of Troops Are Deployed on U.S. Streets Ready to Carry Out "Crowd Control"

Background: the First Brigade of the Third Infantry Division, three to four thousand soldiers, has been deployed in the United States as of October 1. Their stated mission is the form of crowd control they practiced in Iraq, subduing "unruly individuals," and the management of a national emergency. Naomi Wolf links together the Military Times news release regarding the 1st Brigade recent deployment in the US and the statement that Congressman Sherman made that they were pressured into voting on the bail-out or there could be martial law. She speculates on what could happen and interviews a retired colonel for clarification. I have provided links to additional articles from Salon and Alternet which contain the original Military Times news release and interviews with the Air Force Lt. Colonel regarding the deployment of Infantry in the US. The timing is troubling.
