Even though MSNBC still gives Republican Scarborough three hours per day, more than Olbermann and Maddow combined, the opening in big corporate media for informed and progressive news and viewpoints is a major shift from the monolithic pro-war pro-bush anti-government bias that still dominates most of "maimstream" media. The article informs on the inside happenings of journalism, and reads well.
Enjoyable piece that gives good background on an emerging commentator who is bright and personable. How nice to hear someone who can take on the right with fact based challenges and very little of the righteous indignation common to many commentators on both the left and the right.
This is a light story with a definite liberal bias about an emerging liberal pundit, engaging more in facts than in ideology, who is getting her own show on MSNBC. The story, part entertainment reporting and part human interest, maintains an easy-to-read nonstrident tone.
This story is good but falls into a trap. How has the difference between conservatives and liberals become defined by being factual and taking on the theater of the far right? This is an excellent review of the birth of the liberal/progressive point of view in the 21st Century of media broadcasting. Having been a political junkie my entire life (I am 65 years old), I never seen the two back to back shows that held my interest as a liberal that seeks facts not hyberpole. It appears to be a very in depth story about this incredible woman. She is a breath of fresh air and is one of only two really decent newscasters on Cable. Olberman paved the way for her and Rachel is just as good and maybe even smarter. Cable and networks are owned by big business companies, virtually all of them conservative Republicans and worse.
