Excellent insights from the Economist about the federal court ruling against Arizona's immigration law, SB1070. This thoughtful analysis is well-reasoned, draws on factual evidence, cites fairly both sides of this conflict and provides great context on this complex issue. My favorite opinion piece on this landmark case.

One of the strengths of the Economist is it's ability to pull out and offer insights without getting stuck in the mud (politically). Lexington's column has its flaws (he decontextualizes the Harper's quote, for one), but it did give me the opportunity to check some of the unstated assumptions that had developed in my mind about the state of Arizona and supporters SB 1070.

This was a well written piece explaining federal policy and the objection the people of Arizona have to it. He explained the open border policy of the fed quite well but in the last paragraph he denied its existence, whats up with that.
