Why McCain is going so negative, so often.

"We recognize it's not going to be 2000 again," McCain spokesman Brian Rogers said, alluding to the media's swooning coverage of McCain's ill-fated crusade against then-Gov. George W. Bush and the GOP establishment. "But he lost then. We're running a campaign to win. And we're not too concerned about what the media filter tries to say about it." Full Story »

Another article citing McCain's dishonest campaign ads and their departure from his self proclaimed "straight talk". Most articles have focused on the the dishonesty itself. This one quotes McCain staffers on why the approach is being taken and will be continued. In short, lies work.

"They" are in it to win it at any cost--the ends justifies the means.

Good article about an obvious point. Quoting: "Team McCain has been described as dishonorable, disingenuous and downright cynical." Well, of course they are! If you tied yourself to the Bush legacy as tightly as McCain has, how would you like to run on Bush's record? The tragedy is the media love drama--the more negative the better. Mud is thicker than water and sticks a lot better.

What does this reveal? Many people admired McCain because he was above the fray, his own man, a maverick, not just another Republican. And now, he is just the same, telling the same lies, using the same tactics, actually living out loud (as it were) the facts of his political life, which is right in accord with Rove versions of politics. Nothing new; no change here, more Bush style ... and a VP candidate that out Cheneys Cheney. It is quite amazing ... and disgusting.

The left is getting very desperate. Their strategy is not working. The workers don't want to rise up and lose their chains. Next they will blame Obama losing on racism. The fact is that Obama is not a good candidate and his only experience in life is running for office or being a professor.

This opinion piece has minimal journalistic value. The author does not take into account the far greater number of attacks on McCain and Palin by the Obama camp. Two weeks of incessant attacks on Gov Palin including an attack cover on Obama's close friend's US Weekly. Numerous attacks on McCain, such as the "can't use email" one, the stupdiity which caused dismay even among many Democrats. So why are McCain's comparatively modest attacks considered newsworthy?
