In The Sane Society (1955), Fromm wrote, "Yet many psychiatrists and psychologists refuse to entertain the idea that society as a whole may be lacking in sanity. The posting is quite thought provoking as it deals with mental illness as a diagnosis that indicates a disfunctional relationship to society. Does that mean the individual is mentally ill, or the society is mentally ill? It is largely philosophical, but provides a mind expanding perspective.
