Palin: wrong woman, wrong message

This isn't the first time a boss has picked an unqualified woman just because she agrees with him and opposes everything most other women want and need. Feminism has never been about getting a job for one woman. It's about making life more fair for women everywhere. It's not about a piece of the existing pie; there are too many of us for that. It's about baking a new pie. Full Story »

Insightful, but it recycles a lot of the same information about Sarah Palin, and it comes a little late in the overall coverage of her pick as John McCain's VP.

Steinem gives a strong opinion, well presented in defense of women's issues.

This was an article that forced me to slow down and savor the prose while the facts tended to themselves. This opinion piece was a fair assault. Fair in the fact that it was highly critical but not an ad hominem attack; Assault in the fact that this was a confrontation of the precepts of the McCain as well as the underlying greater ideology. Steinem's clarity and execution was impressive as was the critical analysis - particularly when one grasps the context of the fact that the ... More »

It's nice to learn Gloria Steinem has lost none of her keen analytic powers and succinct, winning writing style over the years. This editorial is an important, thoughtful political analysis of the Palin pick. I recommend this trenchant piece for those who wish to know the candidates and their thinking better.

This is an editorial, not an article. Obviously Palin is a huge threat to Stienem's beliefs. Anyone who disagrees with Stienem's ideas is backward.

This opinion piece has minimal journalistic value. There is no journalistic content. It is pure opinion, from someone who is unhappy that her positions on issues no longer are popular. For example, women now are more pro-life than men, especially young women, who do not buy the radical positions Steinem's followers once promoted. She may wish this is not so, but that does not make for accurate journalism.
