Focusing on attempts to steer coverage away from Sarah Palin and back toward John McCain was an effective way of framing more generic coverage of the convention. This story is a bit heavy on quotes, and could have contained some more original research rather than talking heads, but what the Chronicle has here is accurate and well-presented.

If you want really fair political reporting, I highly recommend Carla Marinucci. This is typical of her work. In addition to all the usual sources and quotes, she's brought in a professor and a feminist group that supported Senator Clinton. This gives the piece a lot of depth and a variety of angles to approach the story from. So something that's already been reported to death has a new spin.
