Rather than writing about illegal immigration as if it exists in a vacuum, this article is one of the very few I have seen that addresses the other side of the immigration issue, specifically WHO is hiring all of these illegal immigrants and why?

Preston goes into depth about the effect of I-9 enforcement on a farm town in the Columbia River Valley. She explains Immigration policy and enforcement methods clearly in a way that lays out the human side of the story.

Movement conservatives dislike this approach to immigration enforcement because it's effective, undramatic, and puts the responsibility where it belongs: on the employers.

Pretty clear cut story without a lot of propaganda - just here's the new policy, here's what the old policy did, here's the advantages of the new one, & the disadvantages etc etc etc.

I am so delighted to see a well-rounded story on this issue that does NOT take sides!!!! Huzzah!

I like they just inform the public and are going very impartial over the facts, as much as they can I guess.

I agree with the raids because the cause of illegal employees working for companies I think start by a very poor screening from employers. Some have suggested they ignore some facts in order to obtain a cheap labor ( I mean they charge less than US workers) by these people. I think the government should pay attention in the way they were hired and what the standards are and may be set some controls in that area.
