The Shock Jock Racket

Angry citizen reaction to the latest cynical, cyclical outpouring of hateful speech over the public radio airwaves - top-rated talk show host Michael Savage's despicable attack on autistic children as "brats, morons and idiots" - has once again injected America's talk radio problem back into the mainstream news cycle. But why did it take a full week of protests, pressure, pickets, pullouts by advertiser, and stations dropping the program - Savage's remarks ... Full Story »

This blog post uses quotes from Michael Savage - from his comments attacking autistic children to his comments on many other groups that constitute a minority - to demonstrate that Savage is a hate monger trying to paint himself as a victim. The author makes his case well and provides a service to those of us who don't listen to that tripe by reminding of us why.

This is a good article detailing the latest in a long list of outrages by those who have figured out that shock has value with the desensitized amurrican public. If the people of this country were not so numbed down, they wouldn't need the shocks to stimulate. If people didn't turn their dials to the stations that support the shock jocks, they would go away. Boycott and market forces are the solution to the problem stated in this story. As long as people are willing to listen, the ... More »

About time someone took on the Big Media connection to the hate radio rants. While the heads of the Big Media are sitting at their private country clubs, whipping up support for less control of their product, their employees are spewing forth the kind of nonsense outlined in this article. Very few stories are addressing this. Please read and think about this.

I can't even stand to listen to these people because they're so disgusting. Like one of the commenters, I wonder what must be wrong with a society that rewards people for being so hateful, while censoring honest scientific findings. And why anybody should find it acceptable to slander gravely disabled children. A distressing piece. All the more so because it's probably true.

Excellent story that needs to be out and about in the public forum. Mr. Savage is probably the worst of the worst of the so-called 'shock-jocks'. The lovely and talented Glen Beck is another example. He's been saying thought-provocking crapola like that for years and, most of the time, getting away with it. If one is slightly-to-the-left of Attila The Hun, then he thinks you're the scum of the earth! A perfect example of a sociopath, a well paid one, but a sociopath nonetheless.
