National Geographic - what can one say? It is what it is. Rains in the Antarctic & shivering, freezing baby penguins. Enough said.

Informative article on the fate of penguins in the Antarctica. Researchers are finding that changes in weather patterns, oil spills, starvation from overfishing and changes in currents have led to a decrease in penguin populations. Researchers are suggesting that penguins can serve as marine monitors to give insight into the ocean food chain and climate change. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25740110/ MSNBC story on penguins washing up in Brazil at much higher rates than previous years.

These articles keep getting scarier and scarier. Yet another warning among increasing warnings that countries–particularly the United States–need to stop jawboning and initiate real action to alter behavior while we still can. You have to wonder how the penquins survived the big heat wave back in the year 1000. It was much warmer than now. And indications are that there is a natural regulator to earth's temperatures. See the reference provided.
