They are taking away from the judiciary the power to adjudicate allegations of lawbreaking. They are creating a two-tiered system of justice in which our most powerful corporations can break the law with impunity and government officials remain immune from consequences. And they are, in unity, spewing rank propaganda to the commoners -- who ... Full Story »

Greenwald, one of the most passionate political writers in the USA, has little patience for ignorant and untruthful FISA commentaries that populate main stream media. His expertise as a lawyer specialized in constitutional study gives him particular knowledge. His writing is intense, so dense with links and factual illustrations that reading is a chore for those who don't share his passion.

Excellent deconstruction of the false spin on the FISA bill coming at us from all sides. Clear and to the point.

The author brings up a good point in regard to Telecom immunity, that the President has no authority to order private entities (people or companies) to do anything. He is commander and chief of the armed forces, not King of all he surveys.

Yet another excellent article by Mr. Greenwald. Where, in God's green earth, are the Democrats and libertarian-leaning Repubublicans regarding this bill? Apparently, MIA as usual. This is a bill that China and the old USSR would have no problem with. Welcome to the [new] America!

This is so analytical and precise that the counter arguments all fall flat. Every American should read this piece, even if they don't understand every nuance of every argument.

This opinion piece has minimal journalistic merit. The author should have read about American history before writing the piece. He is ignorant about the situation in every previous wartime period in American history. Censorship and interception of communications was the norm during World Wars I and II, far more than today. The piece is a typical far-right isolationist diatribe.
