McCain: Noun, Verb, Terrorism

McCain continues to embody Bush's worst impulses on terrorism, not least his stubborn refusal to grasp even the most basic facts about terrorist organizations. So let's ask: What would al-Qaeda like America to do in the next few years? What would serve its goals? A few things are obvious. It would like us to stay in Iraq, both because it offers its members a place to practice planning and carrying out terrorist acts, and because it sustains anti-American ... Full Story »

I started this review and lost what I had written, somehow, so here goes again. I respect this magazine and the people responsible for it. I'm sure the stories they publish are truthful and fair. Can't say that for most mainline news magazines. Time, Newsweek, US News and World, etc. The latter has always been more right wing than the others, but not much difference in any of them today, not to mention most mainline newspapers, including the Times and Post, etc., are the same. I think everyone gives too much credence to how strong al Qaeda is or how omniscent anyway. McCain is no different there, but that is mainly because the Republican party needs to scare us since 9/11 and before that too about the dangers of Liberalism. I wonder what the world would be like now if 9/11 never happened. Still hard to believe a bunch of loosely organized terrorists did that without help from anyone in America. Look at the horrible things Bush has done using what happened that infamous day as a rationale to destroy Democracy or try to. Not to mention enriching the corrupt corporations and destroying America's infrastructure. McCain is probably senile or getting there fast. It's kind of hard to believe he is lying and changing his mind from day to day or every week or month or whatever just so he can pander to certain groups of Americans. Of course some say this is just the worst campaign in the history of politics and that McCain was picked to run for the presidency because he was the best they had. God help us if the fool actually becomes president, which I refuse to believe will happen. Everything Bush has done has helped ruin this country and maybe a lot of things will never be able to be changed for the better. Gutless Democrats are here to stay I guess, but hope that will change when we elect a Democratic president. Bin Laden is dead and buried and has been for years. Americans seem to have forgotten what Bush said. "Bin Laden can run, but he can't hide." Actually he has done that but even the sometimes pathetic men in charge of our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have no idea if they killed him or not. Sorry, this is more or rant than a review but I can't help it, ha ha. What we should really be afraid of instead of Islamic Terrorism is the Republican party and sell out Democrats who support them. Things never seem to change much anymore no matter which party has the presidency and from the way Congress is behaving, you'd think the Republicans still control it. Our home grown terrorists are a much bigger threat to America than al Qaeda. The politicians and media have conveniently made those thugs the greatest bugaboo we face. I'm not especially proud to be an American anymore. I've never supported a Republican or voted for one and I've served in the military and worked them as a civilian and guess I have as much of a right as John McCain to say what I want to about this country. I know a lot about air war and there is nothing heroic about dropping heavy explosives and napalm on innocent people.
