Israel imposes a 10-year ban on American critic of Israeli policies

On Friday, Israeli security forces, Shin Bet, detained Norman Finkelstein when he tried to enter Israel, kept him in an airport holding cell for 24 hours, ordered him deported from the country, and then imposed a 10-year ban on his entry. Salon's constitutional lawyer turned commentator discusses the 10 year exclusion from Israel of American Norman Finkelstein. The banned political scientist was detained then deported by Israeli security forces. The Jerusalem Post reported that Finkelstein was deported because of his public criticism of Israel but Greenwald holds American Jewish activists also responsible for seeking to imose a chill on any expression of negative comment regarding Israel. Greenwald goes well beyond the incident that triggers this report and examines the widespread practice of demonizing people who criticize the values and goals of Jewish neoconservatives and their allies. As is common with Greenwald's work, he updates the column as new information emerges and allows an open comments forum that attracts hundreds of responses.
