God TV: Televangelism 2.0

Welcome to the world of a hip new apostolic movement sweeping the globe with claims of prophecy direct from God, supernatural revivals and healings, and a quest to mold young people for God's kingdom by enforced sexual purity, 24/7 prayer, repentance, and fasting... Full Story »

This article says nothing about these pastors theological training or lack of training. It quotes no one who would sees this work as negative. No wonder that be Chistians are seen as negatively

These people are more than frightening. These people are more than lying hypocrites. These are the monsters among us. Prophets of hate, racism, and the elitism of the chosen (themselves, of course). Their victims are the elderly, those who pour money into their lavish "churches" and cannot afford to, and every person gullible enough to believe their idiocy. It is years past time for government to fully investigate these purveyors of evil.

Just what the world needs right now...more "our-god-is-better-than-those-other-gods." nonsense. Mankind's apparent ongoing need for celestial pretend friends and magic is sad commentary on human social evolution. Pushing organized superstition over mass media is an exercise of free speech I would never limit. But I would never celebrate it either.

Interesting blog post. It is nice to hear about evangelism tactics and principles targeted towards the youth. The post was informative and engaging. I enjoyed seeing the contrast and comparison between the traditional fundamental believers and the new crop of evangelists reaching out to the youth.

I am glad somebody is reporting on these really scary people. The use of the tricks and techniques of modern music and media to warp the minds of young people is diabolic. Actually, these teachings are dangerous because religion is used to first coerce and brainwash people and eventually to justify injustice and antidemocratic behavior. How to assure future war? Teach that god is real and my version is better than your version. It has worked for a long time and political leaders ... More »

This is great writing, but there's no attribution to any of the research in this article. The author didn't quote the Alecs or talk to any viewers who watch God TV. If anything, this article reads more like a blog post. It'd be nice to hear comments from outsiders who don't regularly watch God TV and hear what they have to say. The article also ends very abruptly, without a kicker. However, the writing is good in this piece.

Yes, Jesus was a Jew but that is where it stops. The cross is the symbol of Roman Imperialism. Thousands of Jews were crucified by the Romans. Nothing special about Jesus. He was just another Jew. But his message has failed miserably because the false prophets who act in his name are perpetrating the worst crimes! If Jesus were to come back today, the same people who claim to love him, would torture him and crucify him. And if you think for one moment that as a Jew, I would ... More »
