A description of the right-wing rally in Washington DC on 9/12. Interesting interviews with people involved. But no enterprising journalism here. I am still curious about how the rally was organized. Tens of thousands of people don't just show up at the Capitol without lots of prior organization. There is a widespread cynicism and anger - left and right - about people losing their power. But it's scary when the most viable "leader" described in this piece is the racist Glen Beck.

An average, somewhat confusing article, the reason of which may be the event it covered is also confused and banal. Judging from the variety of participants, from conservatives to liberals–and the signs they carried–there seem to be two basic motivating factors: hate for Obama, and racism–both dangerous factors for which we may be regretting in the future.

As another reviewer intelligently observed that this event was very well organized under the radar. The question, who are they?

This story seems to struggle to define the issues in these groups. The key appears to be that the only issues are negative opinion of some policy or proposed policy.

What do they want to go back to keep their guns, oppose abortion, keep taxes low and starve government or whatever Dick Army or Glenn Beck rants against?
