I don't have the background to judge accuracy in this fascinating rendition of the historical roots of the Jewish-Arab conflict, but the author quotes a number of historical figures. The thesis is that conflict arises from the desire to be a normal, secular nation subordinating the religious mandate to be the "Chosen People". I don't know this organization - its advisory council has some names I respect. The article makes statements with which I disagree at several points. However, it is good journalism because it does present a non mainstream way of looking at Zionist history. And it does get to the same point that most mid east peace groups get to.

I think you have to judge a nation not only by its ideals but also by the nature of its enemies. Deliberately killing people eating pizza or calling for the destruction of the nation and its inhabitants defines Israel's enemies. By that definition Israel's response has been very restrained and not as far from its ideals as some claim. It all goes back to the Mufti of Jerusalem and his assistance to Hitler's final solution.
