In a region devoid of democracy a popular backlash would not matter anyway, but Hizballah and Hamas are popular in the region, the U.S. and its occupation of Iraq are not popular. Nir Rosen provides an informed view as one who knows the people, ethnic groups, and the history of the region. His article is a bit long and covers a range of topics, but it seems appropriate for addressing the sequences of ignorance and pro-war lies that the administration and their pro-war corporate press insist upon repeating ad nauseam. A good anti-dote to the KoolAid.
