Banks made greater profits on sub-prime loans because they could charge working class and near-power households more for their mortgages. the importance of this story isn't necessarily in the numbers showing the financial institutions' 'chickens that are coming home to roost', but in the way they seem to be coming home--to a national desire for big change in political administration, something we haven't seen for many decades. maybe something better will come from bad policies.
