The All-White Elephant in the Room

BORED by those endless replays of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright? If so, go directly to YouTube, search for "John Hagee Roman Church Hitler," and be recharged by a fresh jolt of clerical jive.

What you'll find is a white televangelist, the Rev. John Hagee, lecturing in front of an enormous diorama. Wielding a pointer, he pokes at the image of a woman with Pamela Anderson-sized breasts, her hand raising a golden chalice. The woman is "the Great Whore," ... Full Story »

While at least this major pundit, Frank Rich, writing for a US corporate newspaper, has finally let the cat out of the bag regarding the fake Obama/Wright "connection" and the media campaign to distract and diminish Obama, it is interesting that his own newspaper, the NYT, has been one of the culprits in promoting the very "furor" to which he refers as BORING. While the Washington Post (the beltway den of that titular "dean" of pundits, David Broder, exposing his political biases with his version of the decline of Wright crony Obama in the campaign), MCNBC-TV (check out Dan Abrams' news "analysis" program, and CNN (especially that ol' mentally retarded Larry KING) on TV have been much worse in pushing this story to death, the N Y Times, as usual, has been playing a hypocritical game with both its RIGHT and LEFT "hands". Its editors allow pundits like Bob Herbert and Frank Rich blast the media (as though they are someone else's media) for going much too far and not letting go a pale imitation of a scandal, while the same editors are busy spreading the selfsame dirt as maliciously as they can. Is this what the Times considers "balance" and "objectivity" ? It's a pathetic display of dysfunction and political interference in destroying its own the integrity in reporting the news. But by now that's a tired old story. We do not expect any change unless, in the future, our major newspapers will sink into the formerly profitable cesspool they have created for themselves.
