If this alarming story is to be taken at face value, American democracy is in very deep trouble indeed. Bone-chilling scenarios are depicted and documented by such outlets as ABC news, ACLU, and local new affiliates of major TV media. I have no idea as to the veracity of the source, but because the events, if true, represent a critical threat to American democracy it deserves an exhaustive followup and a widely published report.
