Interesting read. Not sure if the global perspective can be easily extrapolated to any specific cases. As a reference for illegal immigration to the United States from Mexico, this is far from conclusive as to what the effect of the global economic downturn has been, but it does show that recession does not necessarily curb international migration.

Fascinating story that puts Mexican immigration to the US into a larger context of global migration, and specifically how the Philippines has embraced migration successfully.

Not at all well thought out. Historically migration increases with hard times so if he is using forecasters that expect a decline maybe he should get better forecasters.
